Rotarian Dr Bharathan gave a concise and illuminating talk on Diseases of the Kidney on Monday 11th December.

He gave a brief introduction to the anatomy, structure and functions of the kidneys and enumerated some of the common kidney diseases prevalent in Malaysia. Emphasizing on the common symptoms of kidney disease such as frothy urine akin to beer, swelling of the feet and puffiness of the eyes, he stressed on the fact that in early stages kidney disease could be virtually symptomless and would require simple and inexpensive blood and urine tests to be detected. The talk was well-attended by members and was followed by an interesting question-answer session. President Dr Ravi presented this year’s Rotary theme tie and Copy of his book on Mt Kinabalu – ‘East Kinabalu’, as a token of appreciation. Past President Dr Richard Barrow presented the vote of thanks.
